On the NARS site, they promise "Convenient, easy application." This is credited to "the convenience of a pencil in a jumbo crayon design." Se[hora says that"its jumbo size provides the application of a lipstick with the convenience of a pencil." 

NARS says that this pencil is enriched with Vitamin E. That could give it a more lipstick feel.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is available for $27 at Sephora, Ulta, and narscosmetics.com and for £20 at Selfridges.

Here is my experience with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. 

I got this pencil from Sephora as a free b-day gift last year. I finally started using it. I love the color but so many new lipsticks find their way into my bag that I've just never got around to using this one.

Now that I have I really love it! It is smooth and creamy. It's well pigmented and applies evenly. 

    

I always do a tissue blot after applying lipstick so I never got a transfer or smudging from this product. 

I haven't worn it for a very long time so I'm not sure on the wear time limits. Mine help up for the 3-4 hours I had it on.

The color wore evenly and didn't bleed or spot.

As I said I wore it for about 3-4 hours and it wasn't drying and it didn't crease or flake. 

I love the pencil design. It really does allow for easier application.

I also really love the long color piece at the end. It would be easy to tell which one you are grabbing if you had a lot of them in your drawer. 

I am a sucker for classic reds. I have so many in my collection but  I can't stop buying them! This one is a beautiful classic cool toned red just like the one Cruella wears in the 101 Dalmatians. The name is perfect!

 

The pencil really is true to color as you can see in the swatches above.

I really love this pencil. It's smooth, pigmented, truly matte and has beautiful color.


Was it worth the hype? I didn't hear much about this pencil before I got it but now I'll be hyping it up to my sister for sure.

Was it worth the price? I have the mini which is about half the size of the full and it will probably last me forever! I really love this lip pencil and I think the full size worth the $27. I will probably buy more shades.
