I Fell in Love with Anime

February 09, 2017

So I recently started watching anime... Yeah my life is over.

Anime has a way of drawing you in and making you want to watch more and more. Most shows only have 1 season or 25ish episodes. They all have great stories and and so easy to get into.

When a lot of people hear anime they think about tentacle porn and hentai but there are so many great anime out there! The stories are great and the art is amazing!

Now I used to be one of these people. I thought it was all weird Japanese stuff and that it wouldn't make much sense. I thought I wouldn't like it or it would be to weird o it would have terrible dubs or the subtitles would be to fast to read.

There are stories about everything from a story about simple school sport team to a story about giant 5-25 meter tall man eating titans to a story about a 17 year old genius with a super powered notebook that can kill. There is something for everybody and they stories are so well written.

Anime episodes are only 20 minutes long without the commercials and most are only 1 season long. Some have a second season but still only end up with 25-30 episodes that are each about 22 minutes long. Much easier to binge watch than something that's 43 minutes long like most TV shows today.

Check out danisnotonfire's video Anime Will Ruin Your Life. He explains why anime is so amazing so much better than I ever could. I 100% agree with what Dan said in his video and as I said he explains it much better that I do.

So let's talk about how I fell into the deep dark wonderful abyss that is anime. I decided to check out Death Note and Attack on Titan after hearing Dan reference them so much in his videos. He references a ton of anime in his videos and I had to know what was going on! Thanks Dan..

So I started with Death Note and I was done for. For those of you who don't know Death Note is about a 17 year old genius named Light Yagmi who finds a notebook that has the power to kill anyone who's name is written in it as long as the writer can picture their face. I love shows about crime and murder so I was in!

I also really got into Attack on Titan. It is the show mentioned before about the 5-25 meter titans who eat people. What little is left of humanity has locked themselves away in a 3 wall fortress. They have 100 years of peace until one day a titan bigger than ever seen before appears and begins to destroy the walls.

I also just started to watch Free! Which is about 4 boys who were on a swim team together. I only watched the first episode but I already love it!

I've gotten more and more into anime over the past couple weeks and it is slowly becoming the only thing I want to watch. I think the only reason it hasn't completely taken over my life is because I watch in the original Japanese with subtitles rather than English dubs. I have to take a break every now and then from reading them. Though it has helped me with my speed reading.

I have a bunch of Anime on my list to watch next. All of which are suggestions from Dan. He has made 2 suggestion videos which you can check out here and here. He makes some great suggestions!

Anime is quickly becoming my newest addiction. After watching my first episode of Death Note I couldn't stop! I added all the anime Dan suggested on Netflix and Hulu where ever I could find it and then when on Crunchyroll, which is were Dan suggested, to find the rest. Big mistake!

Crunchyroll is like Netflix for anime. It has everything! Plus it has a free version with ads! There is also an ad free paid version. I have already spent so much time on the ad version! Looks like I'll be adding another subscription to my ever growing pile of subscriptions.

You can sign up for the free version at crunchyroll.com and if you want to sign up for the free trial please use Dan's link on his videos I linked above, it's on all 3! If you go through the regular Crunchyroll link for the free trial you get 14 days free but if your use Dan's link you get 30 days!

I can not wait to get more into the crazy world of anime and get completely lost in it forever!

Do you like anime? What is your favorite show? What should I watch? Have you seen the shows I mentioned above? Let me know in the comments!

If you have never tried anime you really should! Check out Death Note and Attack on Titan! Both are on Netflix and Hulu and on DVD on amazon! If you check them out let me know what you think of them in the comments!
