Here is my experience with the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Mud Mask.
I received Shea Moisture's African Black Soap Duo in the Influenster Glow Box. Originally I was going to review the Duo together. Hence both being in the photo. However after trying the mask I'm debating on not trying the scrub at all.
I haven't opened the scrub yet but if it smells like the mask I don't want to. The mask has such a strong smell of playdoh. Like really bad. I had to wash off the mask after 8 minutes because I couldn't take the smell anymore.
It didn't do anything special to my skin. My skin didn't feel much different to when I put it on actually. I didn't get a break out or anything from it but it didn't do anything either.
The only thing it did do was leave my face and hands smelling like playdoh for hours after words. I washed my face with my regular Origins wash after to try to get the smell out and it didn't work. I also washed my hands about 5 times.
I used the mask at 7pm and at 12:30am when I was laying down for bed I was still catching whiffs of it.
I saw other people say it smelled like baby powder but I think it smelled terrible. Baby powder wouldn't have bothered me. I can't stand this smell and I couldn't get rid of it.
A lot of reviews on Shea Moisture say it smells great so maybe I got a bad one. I don't know. After the smell and the fact that I didn't feel anything different in my skin I didn't really want to risk buying a full one.
Maybe I'll work up the courage to try the scrub at some point. The mask just smelled so bad.
I feel bad for give it such a low rating. I really wanted to like it. I've been having bad acne days and I was hoping this would help. But it didn't really do anything for me and the smell was terrible.
That's it for this review. Thanks so much for giving it a read! I hope you enjoyed! Have you tried the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask? What did you think? Did it smell or did I get a bad batch? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

I have this mask and totally agree with you. The smell is so strong and it doesn't do anything for me, either. Shame! x
