ZombieGoddess Beauty: My 2017 Reading List

I fell in love with reading when I was 13. Before that I hated it. Not really sure why I hated it so much. Maybe it's because my eyes twist up words after I read for awhile. Maybe it's my mild dyslexia. I don't really know but since I was 13 I have loved books and the way they can pull me into a whole new world.

Reading and writing became a huge passion for me. I usually read at least 15 books a year but last year I didn't read much. I decided I needed to set a reading goal for 2017 and make a list of books I need to read. I also set some blogging goals for this year as my reading and writing motivation was out the window in 2016.

I have a bunch of books that I got forever ago and haven't even opened them. I got Girl Online by Zoella when it first launched and it has just sat there waiting for me to read it, collecting dust.

I got a Kindle for Christmas and with tons of free classics and with kindle editions being cheaper than paperbacks I decided that 2017 needed to be the year I got back to reading.

Today I wanted to share my 2017 reading list with you guys. Partly for you guys to possibly give you something new to read and mostly so I have it written in stone to keep me motivated to read these books.

Death Note

Starting out a little ominous. Death Note is about 17 year old genius named Light who finds a notebook that can kill anyone just by writing their name and picturing their face. Light decides to use the book to kill criminals.

But the cause of death from the book is a heart attack unless a cause of death is written so the police quickly notice that someone is killing criminals.

A detective named L, who is a lot like Sherlock, takes up the case and starts investigating. Light quickly figures out how to keep the investigation away from him and he and L start a battle of wits.

I just watched all of the episodes of the Death Note anime so now I'm dying to read the manga. There are 12 volumes of it so I'll be reading them all year. Maybe I can read one a month. They sell them in 6 books now in a super fitting "black edition" that has 2 volumes in each book so maybe I'll finish it faster.

Girl Online by Zoella

As I mentioned I have a first edition of Girl Online just sitting there collecting dust that has never been opened. I've seen a bunch of people saying how good it was and I know I need to read it.

For those of you that don't know much about Girl Online here is the synopsis from Amazon.

Girl Online On Tour by Zoella

So I haven't even opened Girl Online but I still bought the sequel anyway. These two are must read for me this year!

Girl Online Going Solo by Zoella

Book 3 in the Girl Online series. From what I've heard about the series I want to read all three. They sound really good. I have book 1 and book 2 and when I'm done with them I'll going to get book three.

Binge by Tyler Oakley

Yet another book I have bought that I have not really cracked open. I did read a chapter but then got side tracked. Oops.

I've been watching Tyler for years so I really want to read this book. It's a bunch of stories he has never told online. I swear I'm not a creepy stalker. Hahaha.

Paper Towns by John Green

I read The Fault in Out Stars in less than 24 hours. I laughed, I cried, I loved it. I've been wanting to read more of John's books ever since. I've had Paper Towns on my desk for ages and haven't read it.This year is the year.

This is also the second John Green book to be turned into a movie but I'm 100% a book before movie person so I'll be waiting to watch it until I've finished the book. But if it is anything like TFIOS movie I'll be a little disappointed.

Looking For Alaska by John Green

Another John Green book. I've had this one since summer. I have so many books I want to read but I just had no motivation to read last year. I have no idea where my motivation was in 2016 but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Time Zero by Carolyn Cohagan

I got this book from the Author for free to review and I still haven't read it. Way to go me! I've read the first chapter and it already seems really interesting. I got this from the author but if this book was suggested to me I'd still be reading it.

The Proving by Ken Brosky

Another book I got for review. I've only gotten to chapter 3. Not because it is boring but because as I've said I had 0 motivation in 2016. This book is an interesting take on aliens and it is something I would read on my own if I came across it. I can't wait to see where it goes.

The Little Yarnmouth Abduction by Tim Van Minton

Another review book but this is 100% a book I'd read on my own if I came across it or it was recommended to me. The opening line of the description is "Falsely accused of murder, twelve-year-old Evan Peregrine battles through a raging storm to get home to the island of Little Yarnmouth, only to find it deserted." I was hooked I can't wait to read it!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

I read the first 2 Divergent books in 2016. I started Allegiant but I haven't finished yet. I also want to read Four which is parts of the Divergent books in the character Four's point of view.

Buffering by Hannah Hart

I'm so excited to read this book! Hannah is so open in this book and I can't wait to read about her experiences and see what advice she gives in this book. She gives the best advice.

Children of Eden by Joey Graceffa

I've been watching Joey's YouTube video for a long time, but that's not why I want to read this book. The story just sounds so interesting.

5th Wave by Rick Yancey

This book has some pretty mixed reviews but I decided I'm going to give this series a try. Lets see were it goes. I'm not sure if I'm going to read the other 2 books in the series since the reviews are so mixed but I'm going to give it a try.

Bird Box by Josh Malerman

I found this book on the Kindle store on amazon and the cover caught my attention. It's a Stephen King style thriller. I really want to check this out and get a change from the teen dystopian future story. I read Hunger Games and Divergent recently and all the books I was sent for review are the same kind of thing so I need a good break from them after I finish the 3 review ones.

Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King

Speaking of Stephen King I got this book not to long after it can out and still haven't read it. I guess I'll be reading a lot of murder this year. I want to read a few Stephen King books this year. Which ones are your favorites?

The Ripper by Stephen Petrucha

This story is about if Jack the Ripper had come to NYC like he said he would. It is told through the eyes of a a young boy named Carver. I've read like 3 chapters and it seems so good. I have had it since 2014. I might have to re-start but I can going to finish it this year!

So those are 17 books from my 2017 reading list. My list is much bigger than this one but it would take all day to list them all. Maybe I can do a part 2 when I finish these.
